Job Title: Assessment Inspector - Personal Property
Salary: $31.42 - $37.12 per hour
Hours: Mon - Fri 8:30am to 4:30pm

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Under the supervision of the Tax Assessor, obtains data in the field on real and personal property for assessment purposes; does related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF WORK (Illustrative Only)
Makes personal inspections and re-inspections of automobiles, buildings, stock on hand, equipment and other personal property to obtain data for assessment purposes; Examines financial statements of businesses to analyze and determine personal property assessment data; Computes and compiles data; transfers to appropriate records.
Makes recommendations of evaluations and assessments to superior and assists in formulating policies and procedures relative to inspection, valuation and assessments; Operates Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) system for data entry, calculations and reports; Prepares reports, correspondence and reviews appraisal and valuation procedures with taxpayers; Answers phone inquiries relative to assessment.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Good knowledge of business practices including financial statements; Working knowledge of assessment principles; Ability to learn and apply the principles, methods and techniques of real and personal property valuation; Ability to acquire and apply knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations governing property assessments.
Ability to make involved computations; Ability to meet and deal effectively with taxpayers and co-workers.
MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Graduation from high school and two (2) years of full-time experience in accounting, double entry bookkeeping or financial analysis OR graduation from an accredited college of university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
At time of appointment, possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
