Each of the municipal options that are being offered in every municipality must be approved by the municipality’s legislative body. This can be accomplished through ordinance approval at a Town Meeting, a charter revision or by a vote by the Town Council/Board of Alderman charged with the duty of making annual appropriations.
If no municipal option has been adopted, please discuss with your municipal leaders about either 1) adopting an ordinance, or 2) removing the policy allowing the program to continue. OPM cannot allow programs to be administered that affect Grand Lists that are not in compliance with the state statutes.
The report is directly from an online survey. If anyone notices anything incorrect listed in their municipality, please reach out to Jennifer Gauthier so she can correct the master report. OPM will be using this to determine municipal options for future legislation, and to help with taxpayer inquiries.
