The Town of Griswold seeks qualified applicants for the position of Assessor. This is a full time, 35 hour per week salaried position with benefits.  The Assessor’s Office is presently open to the public Monday through Wednesday 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Thursday 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM and Friday 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

Essential Functions:

Under the First Selectman’s direction the person in this position will direct and administer the town wide assessments of real and personal property and motor vehicle preparatory to compiling the Grand List for taxation purposes and related activities; they will adhere to mandated General Statutes schedules; administers revaluations, office and budget procedures, compiling and certifying the Grand List, and monitoring and confirming data related to the Grand List.  Must work together with revaluation company during times of revaluation.

Education, Experience and Training

Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, real estate or a related field and successful completion of all course work for Certified Connecticut Municipal Assessor (CCMA); High school diploma or GED, successful completion of all course work for Certified Connecticut Municipal Assessor designation and five years of successful business experience, not less than four of which shall have been in connection with the handling of real and personal property; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides a demonstrated ability to perform the duties of the position.

Licensure and Certification

  • State of Connecticut certification as a Connecticut Municipal Assessor (CCMA).
  • Must possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
  • State of Connecticut Revaluation Certification; preferred but not required.
  • Appraisal licensure; preferred but not required.
