General Statement of Duties:
The Statistician aids the department with data management and assessing areas of deficiencies and recommending and creating more streamlined processes. Reports to the Assessor.
Qualifications Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree with a focus on statistics, mathematics, or survey methodology. Three to five years’ experience in compiling, analyzing, and interpreting statistical data, preferably in an Assessors office. Preferred experience with Proval CAMA and Quality Data software.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists the Assessor and the department with data management, and computerization of information through the use of various software programs, including the Proval CAMA System, Quality Data and any other business related application.
- Reviews and determines validity of sales of real estate for reporting to OPM. Submits and reviews the ENGL reports from OPM. Calculates the Coefficient of Dispersion and other statistics for the Assessor.
- Reviews the calculation of the equalized Grand Lists and monitors the statistics from sale ratio studies. Prepares reports and provides the Comptroller with values of the Grand List and sewered properties each year.
- Implements greater efficiencies in the operation of the office, public access to records and accuracy of data for final valuations. Manages databases; extracts and imports data into applications for analysis.
