Changes to veterans exemption amounts for the upcoming 2019 Grand List year.
This past legislative session, legislators approved an increase to the exemption for veterans with disability ratings (only). Two documents for your review and incorporation into your exemption program materials for the 2019 Grand List are linked below.
The legislation is Public Act 19-171 “ AN ACT CONCERNING THE PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION FOR SERVICE MEMBERS AND VETERANS HAVING DISABILITY RATINGS”.
If you would like to review the legislative reports and bill language, please follow this link, but the final Public Act can be viewed or downloaded here, and for distribution to anyone in your office that handles these exemptions.
The Excel file of all Connecticut towns and their corresponding veteran exemption amounts can be downloaded below. The spreadsheet is updated to include the newly increased exemption values, taking into consideration PA 19-171. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THESE VALUES AND ADD $500; the additional amount allowed in this most recent legislation is already included. You can use the numbers in this spreadsheet to update the tables in your CAMA/Billing Software, and to update any printed media you might have that references this exemption.
Additionally, the “C” Codes will be one-half (50%) of the A code exemption amount…. And the “B” Codes will be two times (200%) of the A code exemption amount.
