General Description
This is a responsible supervisory, technical and administrative position involving the direction of a municipal property assessment operation.
This position involves complex technical work in the Town of North Haven Assessor’s Office dealing with the evaluation of land, construction improvements to the land, personal property and motor vehicle valuations for the preparation of the annual Grand List.
The employee in this position may be assigned to train employees and/or monitor the work produced by other employees. The employee performs diverse duties of an advanced and specialized nature. Judgment must be exercised in analyzing facts or circumstances surrounding issues. Work often requires development of recommendations and independent actions consistent with policies, general directives and broad regulations. The decisions made affect the operation of the work unit and organization. Discretion is required in the application of policies, procedures and guidelines and in selection of appropriate resources for use in accomplishing assigned work.
Supervision Received
Works under the direction of the Director of Finance & Administration within the governing laws, regulations and ordinances.
Minimum Experience & Training
Certified Connecticut Municipal Assessor ( CCMA) II required.
Not less than five (5) years employment in the appraisal or assessment of real or personal property including at least three (3) years full-time paid employment in municipal assessment or In lieu therof satisfactory completion of college courses in Liberal Arts, Economics or Business Administration substituted on the basis of one (1) year of college for one (1) year of required employment up to a total of four (4) years, plus three ( 3) years full-time paid employment in municipal assessment or In lieu therof any combination of the above training and experience including the two ( 3) years of full-time paid employment in municipal assessment.
Experience in the use of the eQuality Valuation Services CAMA software
