This position plans and coordinates a continuing town-wide program of real, motor vehicle and personal property assessment prior to compiling the Grand List for taxation purposes and related activities; administers revaluations.

Essential Functions:

On a regular and continuing basis, supervises and participates in the valuing of all taxable property to establish the Grand List.  Conducts inspections of existing properties, improved properties and properties under construction to determine value.  Adheres to mandated General State Statutes and schedules. Reviews and records authorized tax exemptions. Prepares and administers annual office budget. Supervises office staff. Coordinates activities with Tax Collector and Comptroller’s Office to assure timely tax notices and collections.

Qualifications Profile:

College degree in Business, Accounting or a related field and several years’ experience in real and personal property evaluation work; OR, an equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge , skills, and abilities. Ability to communicate effectively with Town Departments and general public. Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Excel.

License or Certificate : CCMA II Certification; Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator’s License

Salary $86,000 – $88,000 {DOE)

35-hour work week – Full Benefits.
